Does Acupuncture work against Depression, Anxiety and Weight loss?

A few people told me that it actually works. today I went to some herbal place and some chinese dr…acupuncture specialist I think theyre called…told me that over a series of 10 sessions acupuncture will help me. I am 17 female. I have anxiety and depression and am slightly overweight.
I hope this helps. I have been drinking Valerian tea and want to start drinking St. johns wort? does it help??

I know people that swear by acupuncture, but have never had that treatment myself. I believe them when they say it works. I know a lot of people that use Valerian and St. John’s Wort, but I don’t think you’re supposed to use them together.

Accupuncture does work for many people. If you’re open to it, it’s probably worth trying out.

    Is the valerian helping you?

St. Johns Wort does work for mild to moderate depression but it can interact with many medicines such as birth control pills. If you’re not on any meds that it can affect, then it’s worth a shot as well.

You can check out the Natural Standard at http://www.naturalstandard.com for more info on the valerian and st. johns wort. Its a great resource for natural products!

acupuncture has worked for me. There are a lot of different ways to combat what ails you. try drinking tea (no caffeine) like green tea in the morning, after each meal (for digestion) and at night. When you get acupuncture done, it should help you in feeling relaxed, increase the blood flow to those parts that may be cut off. In regards to depression, and anxiety, you would be surprised what this therapy can do to make you feel more at ease. Perhaps you can try something like the Secret for some positive reinforcement. Those are some of the things I use and it has made a huge impact on my well being.

There is the placebo effect, which means that about 243% of people are helped by anything. Acupuncture does work for pain relief, and this is well documented. The theory however is very weird, as it had nothing to do with the nervous system or any other system recognized my medical science. Go figure.
For these chronic conditions, it’s likely that acupuncture will have only a temporary effect. I tried it for back pain, and it didn’t work, although chiropractic treatments did. As for the herbal treatments, some people respond better than others. If there is no improvement after 6 weeks, try something else.
